PARRY!
PARRY! Announcing the STANFORD FENCING LEGENDS FUND
PARRY! is the second phase of the strategic plan of the Save Stanford Fencing Campaign. An anonymous donor has given Stanford Athletics $100,000 in seed money to create an endowment called the Stanford Fencing Legends Fund to support the Stanford Fencing Program for the future.
An endowment is a substantial investment that produces income in the form of interest. The interest then supports fencing without having to continue to raise money for the operating budget each year. This endowment has begun with a major donation. Additional donations can and must continue to be added to the endowments. Fencing now has two endowments, but they are not yet of sufficient size to produce enough interest for the operating budget.
Endowments can be created and named to honor individuals. The Levitan Family created such an endowment to honor Jacob Levitan. The Stanford Fencing Legends Fund was created to honor George Domolky, Coach Jean Helliwell, Sherry Posthumus and Coach Zoran Tulum.
The International Fencing Foundation is being created to reach out to underserved populations with the health benefits and character-building lessons of fencing.
We are also interested in partnering with companies and organizations in imaginative and mutually beneficial ventures.
Mr. Abbas Khoshnivissan will be happy to talk with any individual, family, organization or company considering a contribution to an endowment. Abbas may be contacted at akhosh@sbcglobal.net.
Karen S. Recht, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development can be contacted by interested individuals, organizations or companies to discuss named endowments, gifts of stocks, memorials and mutually beneficial ventures. Her e-mail is krecht@stanford.edu or 650.736.8389
